I traded from a dry shave Braun electric rechargeable unit to this. My Braun died due to age and use. In regards to shave closeness, I think my old Braun has a slight edge. The ergonomics of this shaver is very well designed and better than my Braun. The hydraclean system, self cleaning, is a nicety but is not a critical need in my opinion and is probably why it is priced the way it is. Number of shaves between recharge is about average but my old Braun out performs the Panasonic in this arena as well. If you are a simple guy looking for a decent shaver at a good price, you can find just as good or better at a lower price.
