I have owned Braun shavers for years and have been very happy with them. When it was time to replace my old shaver I wanted to try something that did not require ongoing purchases of cleaning cartridges which were adding up with the Braun after several years. So I tried a rotary and hated it, within 3 months I was looking for something better.
I had always thought of trying the Panasonic as they're products are usually pretty good from my experience. This shaver is no exception, it is the best shaver I have owned. Being able to use it wet is a great feature - the shave is very close and does not irritate your skin. The price for the Panasonic has always been fairly high but this is a great deal and well worth it.
the cartridges are not cheap but they seem to last a long time because they are not alcohol based. The cartridges contain a soap that mixes with water you put into another canister. I run the clean cycle after every use and the first cartridge is still in use after a month or so. I do pre-rinse after every use before putting it in the cleaner.
Battery life is pretty good. I have not travelled with it yet but expect you could get at least 5 days of use without a recharge probably 7 or 8 days.
