I could write a lot about the razor but let be simplify it to say, it does not irritate my face any more than my Gillette Mach 5 razor and it cuts as close. There is a "break in period" which I would attribute to learning how to shave with an electric razor more than your face learning how to be shaved. The cleaning station is pretty quite; however, do not start the cleaning cycle and leave the room while your wife is sleeping in the next room.
