The ES8109S has really exceeded my expectations in every way. It is a beautiful piece of hardware, well balanced with perfect fit and finish. I have a very thick beard, and it shaves so close my face is like baby skin, and with no irritation.
After using this for several weeks I've discovered a shaving method that really takes advantage of this wonderful machine.
1) Wash face, leave wet. Apply shaving cream (I use Edge Gel).
2) Turn on hot tap water. Turn on shaver, rinse in hot water while it's on, then start shaving
3) Periodically dip the (running) shaver under the hot water. The hot, wet blades melt the gel on your skin and help you to get a really close and comfortable shave.
4) Repeat step 3 until there's no more gel on your face, then give it one last good rinse before setting it in for a daily cleaning/charge. Your cleaning cartridges will last longer because the shaver is already pretty clean when you start the cycle.
You will be rewarded with a pleasurable, close and comfortable shave that compares to going to the barber shop for a hot towel/straight razor professional shave.
